2024 apprenticeship Program Apprentices
Program Overview: The Georgia Organics Apprenticeship Program is a 10-week subsidized hands-on training program that aims to provide early-career farmers with a well-rounded education in sustainable farm management and technical skills training. Ideal apprentice candidates should have a strong commitment and desire to start a farming operation of their own or remain on the farm as a laborer or manager. Apprentices will be paired with farm hosts in their area, no more than a 45-minute drive away. During the program, apprentices will gain some of the skills necessary to pursue a career in organic and sustainable agriculture.
In addition to working 20 hours a week for 10 weeks, apprentices are expected to attend three, two-hour virtual educational discussions that will take place on weekday evenings, date TBD. This $15/hr. apprenticeship program will run from April 1 to June 7, 2024. The apprenticeship includes working closely with a host farmer for 120 hours of on-the-job paid training and six hours of virtual instruction.
Additional hours, up to two, will likely be required for onboarding and co-interviews with farm hosts for matchmaking.
